Prosperity takes a ride

I seem to sometimes forget, in the midst of the idea that this is a competition and that we will be going to Sacramento way to soon, that Prosperity is changing daily and turning into a horse that trusts me. I forget that just a few weeks ago she was wild, not willing to allow a hand to be placed on her, and I look at her with greedy eyes wanting to do what she is not ready for.( saddle saddle saddle saddle ) I remember that this bond will take time and not to be impatient.
Prosperity learns to trailer (with a little pressure from Kathy behind) and also learns to be squished in a slant load divider (with a little stomping action in protest). Then on to Lifesavers, where she unloads in an alley (almost spooking away but instead giving to the rope as soon as she felt the pull of it, GOOD GIRL PROSPERITY!) She seems a little nervous of the new place, hesitant to halter later on when I come back to get her, but she follows me all the way down the alley into the arena's round pen. She protests a few times but not with much conviction. In the round pen we do rope work; which, by the way, Prosperity can buck. I am intent on fixing that before I place my butt in the saddle. Then we did sacking out with the pad.

Then we go into the arena (were there is another horse and owner working on the ground) and Prosperity learns to ground drive over the wooden bridge and follow the giant ball around until she was able to touch it with her nose. I am happy with her day so we load into the trailer (still needed the pressure from behind) and home we go.

Heh...yeah, I think I'd want to fix the buck before placing my butt in the saddle, too, lol!

Funny how different they are. Sandy doesn't care about the saddle, but dollars to donuts the trailer this weekend isn't going to be an easy thing to master!

Just found your blog. Cowboy Magic is the perfect sponsor looking at Prosperity's mane. That is one product line that has never let me down. I rely on their detangler to get those wind twists out of my horses' manes. Anyway, I'll be seeing you two at the Horse Expo in June. I've got my reservations.
